Newly admitted undergraduates and returning students are ready to kick off one of UNIST’s biggest events of the year, the 2015 UNIST Matriculation Ceremony.
The ceremony was held on February 25 at the UNIST Gymnasium for newly admitted students of undergraduate faculties. A total of 711 new undergraduate students were admitted in the presence of their family and professors who held witness to this important milestone.
This year’s ceremony featured the awarding of students with outstanding enterance scores, followed by greetings and remarks by President Moo Je Cho and the Board Chair, Cha-Yol Koo.
The ceremony was opened by club members of UNISTra playing Korea’s national anthem prior to a recitation of the pledge of Allegiance. As UNIST aspires to be a truly global university, the 2015 Matriculation Ceremony was preceded in both English and Korean. The Oath of Freshmen was also delivered by student representatives, JaeSung Kim and DaeHwa Kim on behalf of newly admitted UNIST students.
President Cho heartily welcomed all newly admitted students and their parents to the ceremony. He encouraged the newly admitted students to prepare their studies in 2015 while learning valuable life lessons throughout their school years. President Cho states, “The ceremony marks a new period of your academic career, as you are now in a new school and at a new stage of life.” He continued by saying, “Indeed, you are about to embark on an incredible period of learning and discovery. To encourage and support your success, UNIST has developed programs and services that will help you navigate your academic journey.”
The ceremony was followed by the presentation of “Uni-Star Scholarship.” This scholarship certificates was given to three students, JaeSung Kim, DaeHwa Kim, and JiUng Lee who aspire to be global leaders.
