The Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) has announced that the ‘2020 Job Fair for Young Scientists’ is going virtual for this year due to continued health and safety concerns around COVID-19.
Took place from September 15 to October 7, this virtual career event aims to provide students an important opportunity to explore careers in science and technology and personally connect with employers in this difficult period when many companies have cut back on hiring for interns and new graduates.
In light of COVID-19 pandemic, the process for hiring and recruiting will take place remotely, without meeting the candidates face-to-face. Besides, the application deadline has been extended, so that more S&T students can participate. The event will be participated by a total of 192 technology innovators, including high-performing companies (i.e., 4IR-related companies, Designated companies for professional research personnel, materials, parts and equipment companies) that are contributing greatly to the solution of national problems. The job fair has plans to provide about 1,000 opportunities for S&T students. Two UNIST startups will also be participating in the fair: CasCure Therapeutics Co., Ltd. and Core.Today Co., Ltd.
CasCure Therapeutics Co., Ltd. is developing innovative anti-cancer drugs using CRISPR/Cas technology. Core.Today Co., Ltd., is a faculty-based startup company, founded by Professor Bongsoo Jang and Dr. Kyung Hoon Kim in the Department of Mathematical Science.
The fair kicked off on Tuesday, September 15 via with an online opening ceremony, streamed live on YouTube. At the ceremony, mentors exchanged their real-life experiences and shared valuable advice and insight with the students. This was, then, followed by the essential job search guide by recruiters at the job fair.
Meanwhile, all applications must be submitted via the website of 2020 Virtual Job Fair for Young Scientists until Tuesday, September 22, 2020.
