A new landmark of UNIST, namely ‘Haedong Faculty Lounge’ opened its doors on December 20, 2018.
Located on the second floor lobby of the Engineering Building 110, the new space with an area of about 800㎡ serves as a specialized space that supports faculty exchange, as well as the development of interdisciplinary research both within and beyond the university.
Haedong Faculty Lounge was built through the funding provided by Headong Science and Culture Foundation. On April 26, Headong Science and Culture Foundation held a donation ceremony to deliver KRW 500 million to the UNIST Development Fund for the establishment of Haedong Faculty Lounge.
The new facility is divided into the following three areas: One private Executive Lounge for faculty members, five high-tech Conference Rooms for various meetings, such as video conference using smart boards, as well as Working Lounge where students can conduct studies in small groups.
On the other side of Haedong Faculty Lounge, there is a donation wall to show gratitude towards our donor, Chairman Jung-sik Kim of Headong Science and Culture Foundation.
“Haedong Faculty Lounge is a space that facilitates social exchange and communication among members of UNIST and at the same time, it is a space where science and art meet,” says President Mooyoung Jung of UNIST. “I would like to take this opportunity to express our appreciation towards Chairman Jung-sik Kim of Headong Science & Culture Foundation,”
The ceremony has been attended by President Mooyoung Jung, Professor In Cheol Bang (Dean of Budget and Planning), Professor Jaephil Cho (Dean of Research Affairs), Professor Taesung Kim (Dean of Academic Affairs), Professor Yunwoo Jeong (School of Design and Human Engineering), Professor Hak-Sun Kim (School of Electrical and Computer Engineering), JiWan Kim, KangTaek Lee, and other related guests.
