The School of Business Administration at UNIST has announced that two of its students have been licensed as the Certified Public Accountants (CPAs). Ho Yun Jo and Dayun Yang are two of the successful applicants from the 54th CPA exam.
A CPA license is the accounting profession’s highest standard of competence, a symbol of achievement and assurance of quality. Licensed accountants are responsible for auditing the firm’s financial accounting to promote sound financial management and protect key stakeholders. Thus, they are responsible for checking whether audit reports are properly recorded and whether there is any fraud. Their role also includes providing tax and management consultation services.
The Korean Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) has released the list of final successful applicants on Wednesday, August 28, 2019. This year, a total of 1,009 applicants had passed the CPA exam. In terms of the percentage of all applicants, this year’s passing rate was 33.6%, thus has increased slightly compared to 904 in the preceding year period.
Meanwhile, UNIST had produced three more Certified Public Accountants in 2018, among them Taeyoon Kim in the School of Management Engineering received much attention for being the youngest successful applicant.
