The UNIST Student Orchestra (UNISTRA) has recently been recognized for their outstanding accomplishments at the 2021 Luce National Classical Music Competition.
The 2021 Luche National Classic Music Competition took place at Seoulju Culture Center in Ulsan from August 20 to 21, 2021. Being held for the first time, the competition brought together over 180 participants nationwide in the fields of vocal, piano, string, and chamber music.
Two student musicians from UNIST were also recognized for their outstanding performance at the competition. JaeHyeon Park (Department of Mathematical Sciences) and JunHa Kim (Department of Physics) from UNIST participated in the general (non-major) string category and won first and second place, respectively. YunKyeong Han (Department of Chemistry) also attended the competition to provide accompaniment for both participants. Although these students are non-majors, they boldly challenged with a serious attitude toward music.
These students are members of UNISTRA, playing classical music under the guidance of Professor Jong Eun Lee in the School of General Studies at UNIST. They also have been involved in many official school events, such as entrance and graduation ceremonies.
They have decided to take part in the competition after hearing the news that there will be a competition, held in Ulsan. The students gave up their summer break to prepare for the competition, practicing hard. As a result, they achieved great success in the 2021 Luche National Classic Music Competition.
