On October 28, a ceremony was held to deliver scholarships to students in Ulsan region.
Took place in the conference room of UNIST Engineering Building IV, this scholarship delivery ceremony has been initially promoted by the UNIST trading team NEXT, the third-place winner of the 2021 Rotman-UNIST Trading Competition. The team composed of UNIST students, including Yeong Jin Ko, MinGyu Kim, InKyung Baek, and WooJae Jung.
The scholarships have been awarded to two students in Ulsan. They are currently participating in the ‘Aramco Coding School for Earth’ program, organized by the MIDAM Scholarship Foundation (MIDAM). These students also recently participated in the MIDAM Scholarship Foundation’s essay contest and received some positive feedbacks. The scholarship has been awarded in recognition of their outstanding academic achievement.
“We value the opportunities we were given at UNIST and this includes getting scholarships,” noted Team NEXT. “And in return, we wanted to pay it forward by helping other students.”
Meanwhile, UNIST, together with Aramco Asia Korea Ltd. and MIDAM, has been providing coding programs to underprivileged students in Ulsan. The selected students are given the opportunity to learn the basics of computer programming, as well as a chance to participate in the nationwide Aramco Coding Hackathon and Aramco Coding World Cup.
