《Editor’s Note: On UNIST campus we find something new every day. The colors of the lush natural surroundings change with the seasons, and new facilities are being built every day. We plan on capturing those moments for you in a photo essay. Please take a look at the campus scenes that will be introduced through our new channel [Photo Essay].》
April is the season of cherry blossoms. From Jeju to Seoul, there are many places where you can go to see the beautiful, light pink cherry blossoms, including UNIST campus. Young cherry trees, which were bare when UNIST opened in 2009, are now mature and splendid to see.
One day when the cherry blossoms around Gamak Pond were in full bloom, the campus around the engineering buildings was bathed in a pale pink cherry hue. Under the blue sky, cherry blossoms burst like popcorn from the once bare branches.
Through the branches of cherry trees, there appears the Gamak Pond. As the spring winds blow, the blossoms fall petal by petal, turning the Gamak pond into a flowery mirror. Just in time, the fountain spews out water, adding a splash of freshness.
The rhythms of the seasons seem to be changing so quickly that it feels like spring was a blur. Although April is not gone, most of the blossoms have fallen off the trees now. So we have decided to share some photos that depict that magnificent blooming day on campus. Time passes quickly, and before long cherry blossom season will return to UNIST.
Please enjoy the selected photos, titled ‘Cherry Blossom Ending’ by Photographer Kim. We look forward to seeing you in the next episode of Photo Essay.
