On May 24, UNIST announced that it has received a generous donation of 10 million won has from PeDiSem Co., Ltd. The donation will be used to support the cultivation of high-caliber talents in the semiconductor industry.
A donation ceremony, held on Friday, May 24 at the Haedong Faculty Lounge in UNIST, aimed to express gratitude to PeDiSem Co., Ltd. The funds will be directed towards the UNIST Graduate School of Semiconductor Materials and Devices Engineering and the UNIST Central Research Facilities (UCRF) to support education and research in semiconductors.
Established in 2019, PeDiSem Co., Ltd. specializes in new educational tools, innovative systems, and IP-based solutions. The company has been actively collaborating with UNIST to build a pool of skilled professionals. This donation is expected to strengthen the partnership between the two.
Professor Yun Heub Song, the founder of PeDi Sem Co., Ltd. and a faculty member at Hanyang University, expressed his hopes that the contribution, though modest, will benefit semiconductor education and research. He emphasized UNIST’s vital role in nurturing talent for the high-tech semiconductor industry.
Dean Tae-Sik Yoon of UNIST Graduate School of Semiconductor Materials and Devices Engineering highlighted the school’s efforts to train innovative semiconductor professionals since its establishment in 2021. “The funds will be carefully utilized to promote interdisciplinary education,” he stated.
Director Kwanyong Seo of UCRF acknowledged PeDi Sem Co., Ltd. as an important research partner of UNIST and thanked CEO Song for the donation. “The funds will greatly support research in the semiconductor sector,” he further stated.
UCRF, renowned for its cutting-edge equipment and skilled workforce, currently operates more than 6,000 research equipment in over 220 institutions across Korea.
