■ UNIST College of Information and Biotechnology Signs Cooperation MoU with Yonsei University College of Nursing
The UNIST College of Information and Biotechnology has entered into a collaboration agreement with the Yonsei University College of Nursing, aimed at advancing the domestic medical industry and fostering skilled medical professionals. The signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) took place at Yonsei University on May 31, 2024.
Under this agreement, both institutions have agreed to promote △ Joint training programs for medical professionals, △ Collaborative healthcare research, and △ Academic exchanges to enhance the nursing industry ecosystem.
Dean Jae-Young Sim of UNIST College of Information and Biotechnology stated, “We are committed to collaborating with Yonsei University College of Nursing to lead the development of medical technologies tailored to the needs of the healthcare sector and spearhead the growth of the nursing industry.”
Dean Eui Geum Oh of Yonsei University College of Nursing added, “This partnership will significantly contribute to the development of skilled professionals equipped to address the evolving healthcare landscape.”
■ UNIST Department of Biological Sciences Signs Cooperation MoU with KMEDIhub New Drug Development Center
UNIST has embarked on a new partnership with the New Drug Development Center within the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Medical Innovation Foundation to jointly work on new drug development. During the signing ceremony, plans were discussed to establish a collaborative framework for the development of new drugs targeting various diseases.
UNIST Department of Biological Sciences intends to recommend new drug development targets to the New Drug Development Support Center, and to actively engage in joint research, technology sharing, and the creation of a network for new drug development.
KMEDIhub will provide comprehensive support for disease biomarkers held by the Department of Life Sciences, including drug screening, testing, mechanism analysis, synthesis, and efficacy evaluation in animals.
Through extensive personnel exchanges, both organizations aim to develop customized new drugs by integrating medical knowledge with life sciences. This collaborative effort will focus on cultivating skilled professionals and enhancing the foundation for new drug development.
Chair Changwook Lee from the Department of Biological Sciences expressed, “The partnership with the New Drug Development Support Center is a significant milestone towards realizing the vision of developing new drugs. We hope to further strengthen this collaboration to advance research in life sciences.”
Director Ji Young Lee of KMEDIHub New Drug Development Center stated, “The combined research capabilities of the UNIST Department of Life Sciences and the center’s expertise in new drug development will accelerate the progress of new drug development. We are dedicated to fostering exchange programs between the two institutions for mutual benefit.”
