On June 2, the Kyungdong Scholarship Foundation held the ‘2025 Kyungdong Overseas Exchange Scholarship Awards Presentation Ceremony‘ to recognize and reward students who have displayed outstanding academic achievement.
Five students, including YeRim Kim, Hee Yoon Jeong, WonGi Cha, Keon Lee, and Jeong Eun Lee were awarded the scholarship certificates. They will be studying at four universities, such as the Insa Lyon and Neoma Business School from France, the Constructor University in Germany, the Brunel University London (BUL) from United Kingdom during the upcoming fall semester. The Kyungdong Scholarship Foundation will provide scholarships worth 8 million won per person, totaling 40 million won.

Chairman Chong Rae Park of the Kyungdong Scholarship Foundation, who is also the President of UNIST, is offering words of encouragement to the scholarship recipients.
During the ceremony, the accomplishments of the 2024 overseas exchange scholarship students were also highlighted. The seven scholarship students from 2024 shared their research activities, classes, and cultural experiences abroad to inspire their fellow peers, thanks to the support of the Kyungdong Scholarship Foundation.
In particular, HaEun Back, a student from the Department of Biomedical Engineering, stated, “Seeing students I met in Europe diligently focus on their assignments made me reflect on myself,” he/she said. “I learned a new attitude toward studies and gained great insight.”

Chairman Chong Rae Park emphasized, “Genuine learning begins with questioning,” said Chairman Chong Rae Park. “Participating in an overseas exchange program requires introspection—asking oneself why to participate and seeking meaningful answers. Such processes foster significant personal growth.” He, then, expressed his hope that this year’s students departing abroad would approach their experiences with curiosity and a willingness to learn, leading to their development.
Following the distribution of scholarship certificates and the presentation of participants’ activities, the meeting continued with open discussions. Attendees shared their reflections on the program and their aspirations for the future. Keon Lee from the Department of Design shared, “Hearing the experiences of senior students helped me clarify the areas I need to prepare. I look forward to firsthand exposure to different teaching methods abroad, expanding my perspectives on design, and advancing my skills to the next level.”
The Kyungdong Scholarship Foundation has been supporting overseas study scholarships for three consecutive years, actively contributing to broadening the international outlook of UNIST students through these exchange initiatives.
