Dae-Il Corporation (DIC), a leading company specializing in automotive powertrain components, donated KRW 100 million to UNIST to support the university’s strategic development initiatives.
This donation was made in response to the recent launch of the ‘Together U 2050′ fundraising campaign, initiated by UNIST President Chong Rae Park, who personally contributed KRW 100 million. Chairman Sung Moon Kim of DIC warmly responded to this call, donating his own assets to promote the development of science and technology in Ulsan and to nurture local talent. His contribution reflects a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility and regional growth.
The donation presentation ceremony was held at the Main Administration Building of UNIST, attended by Chairman Kim, Vice President Sung Joo Kim, and other representatives from DIC, as well as UNIST President Chong Rae Park, Vice President Hyun Sil Ahn for Research Affairs, and other key university officials.
Chairman Kim stated, “DIC has pursued technological independence and quality innovation in the automotive powertrain sector for over 50 years,” adding, “Today, as AI becomes a vital new driver of manufacturing competitiveness, we aim to contribute by collaborating with UNIST to develop AI-based autonomous multi-purpose agricultural vehicles such as TERRIAN, and to solve real-world problems through AI and smart manufacturing.”
UNIST is actively fostering a mutually beneficial ecosystem with regional industry partners to cultivate future technological talents. Following President Park’s recent personal donation of KRW 1 billion as a seed fund, the participation of DIC Chairman Kim is expected to further strengthen regional industry, education, and research networks, accelerating innovation and talent development in Ulsan.

Employees of DIC also participated in the ‘Together U 2025’ campaign.
President Park remarked, “This generous contribution will serve as a foundation for closer collaboration between industry and academia in the region. I sincerely thank DIC for joining us in supporting Ulsan’s scientific and technological advancement and talent cultivation. We will utilize this support to build a pioneering ecosystem where students are encouraged to challenge themselves and develop into innovative leaders capable of transforming the future.”
In line with this spirit of giving, UNIST will open its official merchandise store, the so-called UNIQUE STORE, on November 7 at the first floor of the UNIST Library. Featuring over 80 items—including mascots, stationery, and daily goods—proceeds will be reinvested into scholarships, research funding, and campus development. Many products will incorporate regional symbols, such as the ancient petroglyphs and whales. Collaborations with local companies will further strengthen community ties, with part of the profits supporting youth entrepreneurship and regional public-benefit projects.
