Duksan Group Honorary Chairman Junho Lee, a prominent figure in South Korea’s venture and industrial landscape, has generously donated 200 copies of his latest book,『Charting the Course』to UNIST. This work encapsulates his half-century journey of entrepreneurial challenges, setbacks, and growth—offering practical lessons and insights gained from a lifetime of business leadership.
Chairman Lee shared his heartfelt hope that the book will serve as a guiding light for the younger generation, encouraging them to pursue new paths with confidence and resilience. In response, UNIST plans to distribute the copies among students, faculty, and young entrepreneurs, fostering a culture of daring innovation and entrepreneurial spirit.
The donation ceremony was held at Duksan Group’s Headquarters, attended by UNIST Vice President Sung Chul Bae for Academic Affairs and other distinguished guests, who expressed their gratitude for this meaningful contribution.
This latest publication reflects Chairman Lee’s dedication to sharing the invaluable insights gained from his extensive career. While his autobiography, Walking a Path Without Signposts, chronicled his personal life journey, 『Charting the Course』 offers actionable lessons and practical wisdom drawn from navigating the complex world of entrepreneurship.
During the ceremony, Chairman Lee personally explained the core ideas behind his book. Reflecting on his early days starting his business in Ulsan over 40 years ago amidst difficult conditions, he expressed a sincere desire to make the path easier for young entrepreneurs. “I hope this book will encourage young people to dream boldly and venture into the global marketplace without fear,” he said. “My wish is for this book to serve as a clear guide for those daring to challenge themselves.”

UNIST President Chong Rae Park praised Chairman Lee’s lifelong dedication and expressed confidence that his story will inspire the university community. “Chairman Lee’s remarkable journey will resonate deeply with our students and researchers, empowering them to forge their own paths without hesitation,” he remarked. “We are committed to supporting regional startups and fostering an entrepreneurial ecosystem that can transform Ulsan into a vibrant hub of innovation.”
The book launch follows Chairman Lee’s earlier significant contribution—full repayment of a KRW 30 billion development fund pledged to UNIST in 2021. This fund supports initiatives such as the ‘Challenge Convergence Center (tentative name),’ a strategic hub for startup incubation and industry-academic collaboration aimed at revitalizing the regional industrial landscape.
Published by Seong An Dang Inc. on October 29,『Charting the Course』exemplifies Chairman Lee’s ongoing efforts to nurture the next generation of innovators. To date, a total of 700 copies of his works have been distributed to UNIST, the University of Ulsan, Ulsan College, the Ulsan Campus of Korea Polytechnic University, and Choonhae College of Health Sciences.
Furthermore, Chairman Lee fulfilled his pledge to contribute KRW 30 billion toward the UNIST Development Fund ahead of schedule this year, further demonstrating his unwavering commitment to regional growth and industry innovation. The funds are designated for advancing startup ecosystems and strengthening global industry-university collaborations.
As a leader in semiconductors, OLED, and secondary batteries, Duksan Group continues to lead localization efforts in materials and components. Chairman Lee’s latest donation is set to accelerate the global expansion of regional startups and usher in a new era of industrial innovation in Ulsan and beyond.
