UNIST held its 2026 Faculty Workshop from January 29 to 30 at Skybay Hotel Gyeongpo, Gangneung, bringing together faculty members to review institutional achievements and discuss UNIST’s future direction.
The two-day workshop focused on advancing the university’s mid- to long-term development roadmap, Vision 2050, and to share future directions for educational and research innovation with faculty member. Organized by the Office of Academic Affairs, the event aimed to strengthen coordination between university policies and on-the-ground teaching and research activities.
During the workshop, UNIST presented its major achievements in 2025 and outlined key initiatives for the years ahead. Discussions centered on reinforcing the university’s identity as a leading research institution and addressing challenges associated with global competitiveness. The program also introduced newly appointed Collaborating Professors Sedol Lee, Ji Young Lee, and Ayoung Kim, highlighting their roles in strengthening research and education.
Faculty members shared best practices in interdisciplinary education and talent development, including innovative programs at the Graduate School of Health Science and Technology. In addition, 17 newly appointed faculty members introduced their research base and academic plans, offering opportunities for greater collaboration and expanding the university’s research base.
The workshop also featured AI-assisted simultaneous interpretation services, enabling more inclusive participation by international faculty and demonstrating UNIST’s commitment to building a globally connected, digitally driven campus environment.
In his opening remarks, UNIST President Chong Rae Park emphasized the importance of the workshop as a platform for dialogue and collaboration, saying “Gathering in this inspiring setting provides a valuable opportunity to share our research directions and strengthen cooperation.” He further added, “I hope this workshop will serve as a meaningful moment to reflect on our progress, refine our future vision, and reinforce our sense of community.”
