The UNIST Ulsan-Ulju INNOTOWN (hereinafter referred to as Ulsan-Ulju INNOTOWN) hosted a forum to share the achievements of technology-based companies within the Ulsan-Ulju INNOTOWN and explore strategies to accelerate the growth of deep-tech enterprises.
Held at UNIST, the event brought together UNIST President Chong Rae Park, Director Young Sik Kim of the Office of University Industry Relations, Chairman Hee-Kwon Jeong of the INNOPOLIS Foundation, company leaders within the INNOTOWN, and officials from the Ulsan Metropolitan City.
The forum opened with a review of key accomplishments of the Ulsan-Ulju INNOTOWN , followed by an overview of its 2026 development plans. This was followed by presentations from leading companies within the zone—including Thyroscope, LabSpinner, Graphene ENG, and EMCoretech—which showcased their technological innovations and commercialization progress.

Over the past year, the Ulsan-Ulju INNOTOWN has focused on identifying and systematically nurturing technology-driven enterprises. Building on this foundation, the initiative plans to further strengthen technology innovation and commercialization support, particularly in alignment with Ulsan’s core industries, to enhance regional industrial competitiveness and foster a dynamic business ecosystem.
President Park emphasized the importance of translating research excellence into industrial impact, stating, “UNIST’s globally competitive research capabilities are a key driver of future industrial competitiveness in Ulsan and the broader southeastern region. We will continue to strengthen a virtuous cycle in which research outcomes lead to corporate innovation and tangible growth, building an innovation ecosystem that advances together with the region.”
Chairman Jeong noted, “Deep-tech entrepreneurship is not simply about commercialization—it is a process of creating entirely new industries. We will further enhance a full-cycle support system to ensure that outstanding basic and fundamental research from UNIST translates successfully into market-ready innovations.”
The INNOTOWN program, led by the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT), is designed to promote region-led innovation growth by building self-sustaining innovation ecosystems centered around universities and research institutes. Companies within the INNOTOWN benefit from a range of support measures, including funding for technology commercialization, tax incentives, and regulatory flexibility.
