On April 8, UNIST signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with NAVER Corporation, Korea’s premier Internet company to pledge mutual support for one another in the pursuit of excellence in research and education.
The ceremony was attended by Jae Sung Lee, the Vice President of Academic Affairs at UNIST and Jong-Mok Park, Executive Director at NAVER Corp., and other administrators of related departments. The primary purpose of this agreement is to provide students with specific knowledge and skills, required to develop methodologies and to analyze and design complex computer systems, as well as to cultivate the entrepreneurs of the future who wish to pursue professional careers in computer-related industry.
Prior to the signing of MoU, both parties discussed and agreed on some possible collaborative activities, such as the implementation of a new academia-industry cooperation system to encourage links between NAVER Corp. and UNIST. Through these activities, UNIST and NAVER hope to actively promote start-up ventures by supporting entrepreneurs with hands-on work experience and exposure to career path of interests.
