UNIST faculty plays a pivotal role in the university’s mission to advance science and technology for the prosperity of humankind. Recognizing and celebrating the achievements of faculty who have excelled in teaching, research or service is an important step in the journey to become a premier research-intense university.
On August 11, UNIST held the ‘2015 UNIST Best Professor Homepage Award’ ceremony to honor exemplary faculty members who have made exceptional contributions to student learning in and out of the classroom.
This award, new for 2015, specifically recognizes those individuals who have significantly enhanced the quality of their students’ learning experience using web-based technology. Through generous sharing of learning resources on their websites, these individuals have enabled their students to continue classroom discussions and learning outside of traditional classrooms.
A total of 297 faculty websites have been examined from June 9th to 21st, 2015 and only 70 teams reached the semi-final round. Among those semi-finalists, only 20 teams have been awarded at the ceremony.
Prof. Jaephil Cho (School of Energy and Chemical Engineering)’s team has been given the Grand Prize valued at $1,000. The Excellent Prize has been awarded to Prof. Byeong-Su Kim (School of Natural Science), Prof. Jang-Ung Park (School of Materials Science and Engineering), and Prof. Sung-Phil Kim (School of Design and Human Engineering). Others have been recognized for participation.
“Excellent universities begin with excellent faculty,” says UNIST President Moo Je Cho. In his speech, President Cho repeatedly talked about the need for building excellent faculty websites to elevate UNIST’s brand globally.
