Mingi Kim, CEO of CheongMyeong Advanced Materials Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as CheongMyeong Advanced Materials), has generously donated 50 million won from his personal funds to UNIST to support entrepreneurship and help cultivate a vibrant startup ecosystem within Ulsan.
The donation presentation ceremony was held at the Main Administration Building of UNIST, attended by UNIST President Chong Rae Park, Director Woonggyu Jung of the UNIST Development Fund, Director Youngsik Kim of the Office of Industry-University Cooperation, and Director TaeGyu Han of UNIST Holdings Co., Ltd. During the event, CEO Kim expressed his commitment, stating, “UNIST’s spirit of challenge and innovation can transform the future of regional industries,” as he received the official donation certificate.

President Park commented, “CEO Kim’s heartfelt contribution will greatly support UNIST’s goal of creating a startup-centered innovation ecosystem. Entrepreneurs who have built their companies through real-world experience provide invaluable inspiration and courage to our students and researchers.”
The donation ceremony included welcoming remarks, a speech by CEO Kim reflecting on his motivation, the presentation of the donation certificate, and a commemorative photo session. The event was followed by a luncheon and a tour of research facilities, where discussions on expanding industry-academic cooperation took place.
CEO Kim shared, “As a former startup founder who grew through UNIST’s technology-based entrepreneurial support, I wanted to give a small encouragement to the next generation of entrepreneurs. I will continue to contribute to the expansion of UNIST-led technology startup ecosystem.”
CheongMyeong Advanced Materials, established in 2019, is a leading company specializing in advanced materials. The firm has gained recognition for developing “Organic Glass,” a plastic material that can replace strengthened glass used in automobiles and smartphone displays. Currently, CheongMyeong collaborates with major corporations, such as LG Electronics, SKC, and Hyundai Mobis, expanding its business across various industries.
