Jin Young Youm, a Ph.D. student in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at UNIST under the guidance of Professor Joon-Mo Yang, was awarded the prestigious Best Academic Award of KSRSC at the 2024 Korean Society of Radiological Science Conference. The conference took place at Gachon University’s College of Medicine on May 11, 2024.
The Korean Society of Radiology serves as a platform for clinical researchers and students in the field of radiographic imaging technology in Korea to share the latest advancements. It is a prominent society in Korea that focuses on enhancing research capabilities in medical radiographic technology.
The Best Academic Award is presented to researchers who have made significant contributions to the development of radiation technology in Korea through outstanding research achievements. Dr. Youm received this honor for his paper titled “Photoacoustical-Ultrasound Imaging Technology for Early Cancer Diagnostics,” presented at the conference.
With 20 years of expertise in clinical imaging technology both domestically and internationally, Dr. Youm is currently pursuing her doctoral studies in the development of photoacoustic and ultrasonic fusion imaging technology at the Medical Device and System Laboratory within the Department of Biomedical Engineering at UNIST.
Expressing gratitude for Professor Yang’s mentorship, Dr. Youm emphasized the importance of learning laser-ultrasonic (photoacoustic) imaging technology, a promising new approach in medical imaging. She pledged to continue striving to become a leading expert in the field of imaging medicine.
