Duksan Group Chairman Junho Lee, a prominent figure in the Korean venture business sector and founder of the group, has generously donated 500 copies of his autobiography titled ‘A Road Without Traffic Signs: Navigating Life’s Uncertainties‘ to local universities in Ulsan. This donation will benefit UNIST, the University of Ulsan, and Ulsan College.
The donation ceremony took place at the headquarters of Duksan Group, located in Yeonam-dong, Buk-gu, Ulsan on July 10, 2023. The event was attended by several esteemed individuals including Dean Soon-Yong Kwon of University-Industry Relations, Vice President Jae-Shin Lee responsible for University-Industry Relations and Cooperation Support, as well as Vice President Nam Woo Lee from Ulsan College.
During the ceremony, Chairman Lee expressed his hope that young people in Ulsan would be inspired to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams just as he had boldly embarked on his own business journey four decades ago. He emphasized his commitment to supporting young entrepreneurs in Ulsan and urged officials from each university to encourage widespread reading of the autobiographies.
Chairman Lee has been actively contributing to society by nurturing talent in Ulsan and promoting youth entrepreneurship. In 2021 alone, he generously donated private funds amounting to KRW 30 billion towards UNIST’s endowment fund for various initiatives. Additionally, an on-campus student startup cultivation space, called the Challenge Convergence Hall (name tentative) is currently being established at UNIST with his support. Furthermore, back in June this year, Chairman Lee also donated 500 copies of his autobiography to the Ulsan Creative Economy Innovation Center, as a means of inspiring local young entrepreneurs with a spirit of challenge.
Dean Kwon of University-Industry Relations at UNIST expressed gratitude for Chairman Lee’s generous donation and highlighted how it would provide new motivation for students interested in entrepreneurship at UNIST. He also assured that “UNIST would continue providing comprehensive support at an institutional level.”
Chairman Lee published his autobiography through Seongandang Publishing Group—one of Korea’s top ten publishing groups—in March 2022. The autobiography has garnered significant attention and popularity, leading to a fourth print run within just three months of its release, according to Seongandang officials.
