Gangil Byun, a professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at UNIST, has been honored with the 2024 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society (AP-S) Young Professional of the Year Award.
The IEEE AP-S Young Professional of the Year Award is to recognize one Young Professional (YP) member of the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society for significant service to AP Society during the one-year term as IEEE AP-S Young Ambassador.
The awards ceremony will take place during the 2024 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and ITNC-USNC-URSI Radio Science Meeting, scheduled for June 14-19, 2024, in Florence, Italy. Professor Byun is notably the first Korean recipient of this prestigious award, significantly elevating the profile of Korean researchers in the field.
In addition to this honor, Professor Byun was named the first Korean to be named as IEEE AP-S Young Ambassador in 2023.
