The School of Business Administration at UNIST has announced that seven of its students have been licensed as the Certified Public Accountants (CPAs). This was the highest passing rate of students for the year.
SukWon Choi (10′), WooYoung Yoon (11′), InCheol Kim (12′), ChangJin Kim (12′), Dasol Chung (12′), SeYang Park (13′), and YoungKyun Sohn (13′) are seven of the successful applicants from the 55th CPA exam. In addition, six more students showed the chances of passing next year’s test, as they pass partially.
A CPA license is the accounting profession’s highest standard of competence, a symbol of achievement and assurance of quality. Licensed accountants are responsible for auditing the firm’s financial accounting to promote sound financial management and protect key stakeholders. Thus, they are responsible for checking whether audit reports are properly recorded and whether there is any fraud. Their role also includes providing tax and management consultation services.
The Korean Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) has released the list of final successful applicants on Monday, August 28, 2020 This year, a total of 3,435 students applied for the CPA exam and only 1,110 applicants had passed.
Meanwhile, UNIST had produced two CPAs in 2019, three more CPAs in 2018, among them Taeyoon Kim in the School of Management Engineering received much attention for being the youngest successful applicant.
