On May 15, UNIST hosted the ‘2024 Freshmen Sports Festival’ at the UNIST Stadium and Indoor Gymnasium. Approximately 400 first-year and current students, including the CA Leader and Preparatory Committee, participated in the event, making it a great success.
The event was organized by the Administration Office of New UNISTar with the aim of promoting friendship and harmony among freshmen. The festivities kicked off with an opening speech by Cheol-Min Ghim, the Head of School of New UNISTars, followed by various games and mini-games such as soccer, dodgeball, triangular tug-of-war, mission running, and group relay.
During lunchtime, the atmosphere was heightened with an exhilarating Samulnori performance by the UNIST student club “Yu-Heung,” and the event concluded with a spectacular performance by the UNIST cheering group “UNICH.”
In April, the New UNISTAR Administration Office held an office hour for a month to assist new students in adjusting to school life and addressing any challenges they may encounter.
Freshmen also had the opportunity to make new friends through CA (Campus Advisor) Mentorship activities, which commenced from the entrance ceremony. However, due to various timetables and schedules throughout the semester, there were limitations on gathering together in one place at the same time.
The sports day provided a platform for students to overcome such limitations and foster a sense of camaraderie and healthy competition among freshmen through engaging activities.
Cheol-Min Ghim, Head of the School of New UNISTars, commented, “It was heartening to witness students coming together to participate in the games. We are committed to continuing our efforts to offer opportunities for students to enhance both their physical and mental well-being through a variety of events in the future.”
