On November 28, UNIST and the Ulsan Metropolitan City celebrated the graduation of 37 participants from the ‘8th AI Novatus Academia Ulsan Course‘ at a commencement ceremony held at the UNIST Pioneers Campus on October 28, 2025.
The eighth cohort was designed to cultivate industry-ready AI professionals capable of applying artificial intelligence directly to manufacturing environments, supporting the ongoing digital transformation of Ulsan’s industrial sector.
The program ran for 20 weeks beginning in June, offering a practice-oriented curriculum focused on real-world application. Participants completed hands-on training using corporate data and engaged in project-based learning (PBL) centered on solving challenges drawn from actual industrial settings.
During the ceremony, Director Namhun Kim of UNIST Pioneers Campus, congratulated the graduates, stating,
“AI is not simply a technology in itself, but a powerful tool for addressing the specific challenges faced by each company. The focus and commitment demonstrated by the participants over the past 20 weeks will serve as an important foundation for industrial innovation in Ulsan.”
The AI Novatus Academia has established itself as a key platform for AI-driven manufacturing innovation in the Ulsan region, delivering technology, talent, and practical solutions tailored to industrial needs. To date, the program has trained 250 working-level AI professionals from 134 companies, steadily expanding the local ecosystem for manufacturing-focused digital transformation. The previous seventh cohort, completed last year, produced 35 graduates.
