UNIST Leadership Center had an end project meeting of ‘Ulju A.I. 4.0 Studio’ on Saturday, November 20, 2021.
The purpose of this meeting was held to celebrate project success and to announce the final results of the work on the project. The final project demo also took place, following the closing ceremony.
Ulju A.I. 4.0 Studio is a program that provides artificial intelligence (AI) education and practice to second-year high school students in Ulju-gun area. Hosted by Ulju-gun and organized by UNIST, the program, which lasted for 6 months, recruited participants in May 2021.
The program has been participated by 30 high school students in Ulju-gun area. During the program, students acquired background knowledge on AI, Big Data, and UI Application Development. Based on such knowledge, they achieved final results through practice, with the help of UNIST students.
During the course of the event, 10 teams, each consisting of 3 high school students and 2 UNIST mentors, performed various tasks using AI, which includes implementing an evolutionary algorithms, building self-parking systems, building biometric security systems, building an AI controlled drone, as well as building a fake news classifier.
Those students who wish to pursue a career in the field of AI also had a meeting with graduate students or college student mentors majoring in AI, twice a month.
The final presentation has been thoroughly reviewed by UNIST’s Information Strategy Team and Ph.D. students from UNIST AI Graduate School. Participating students received certificates of completion after the presentation.
