Synergy Inc. has reaffirmed its commitment to UNIST’s long-term development vision by making a second consecutive contribution to the university’s development fund. The donation supports UNIST VISION 2050 and the university’s fundraising campaign, Together U 2050, which seeks to advance research excellence and regional innovation.
On January 6, UNIST’s Development Fund Office received an additional KRW 100 million from Synergy Inc. to support the growth of the university’s startup ecosystem. This follows a KRW 50 million donation made last year, marking two consecutive years of support and highlighting the growing participation of local companies in UNIST’s Vision 2050 campaign.
Launched to guide UNIST’s development through 2050, Together U 2050 is a long-term fundraising initiative aimed at establishing the university as a global research hub and a driver of regional innovation. In recent months, participation from small and medium-sized enterprises rooted in the Ulsan region—including Synergy Inc.—has steadily increased, fostering a virtuous cycle in which university innovation and regional industrial competitiveness reinforce one another.
The donated funds will be used to support the full cycle of university-led entrepreneurship, including startup education programs, technology commercialization support, and early-stage startup incubation. In particular, the initiative is expected to strengthen the regional startup ecosystem by creating a structure in which established local companies actively support the next generation of entrepreneurs.
“Through last year’s donation, we were once again able to see the strong potential of UNIST’s innovative technologies and startup infrastructure,” said Kwon-Young Jang, CEO of Synergy Inc. “As a company rooted in Ulsan, we hope to contribute to building a sustainable startup ecosystem in which local talent and ideas can grow into viable businesses.” He added that Synergy will continue to collaborate closely with UNIST, drawing on its expertise in renewable energy technologies to support industrial competitiveness and the transition toward new growth sectors.
UNIST President Chong Rae Park expressed appreciation for the continued support, stating, “Synergy’s sustained trust and commitment will serve as a strong foundation as UNIST moves forward with Vision 2050.” He added, “Through the Together U 2050 campaign, we will translate the support of our regional partners into tangible startup outcomes, fulfilling UNIST’s role as a technology-based entrepreneurship hub connecting the region to the global stage.”
