Team Potom from UNIST announced that it has secured the Bronze Award at the 2023 ICPC Asia Seoul Regional Contest, which took place from November 24 to 25, 2023. Comprising Mansur Mukimbekov, Kanaliyev Ildar, and Sultanov Adil from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at UNIST, the team exhibited exceptional skills and problem-solving abilities during the event.
The competition, held at KINTEX in Goyang City on November 25, was organized by the National Information Society Agency (NIA) and hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT). It serves as a platform to identify the most outstanding individuals in algorithmic programming skills and problem-solving abilities in Korea. Over the course of five intense hours, 75 teams from 35 universities, who had successfully passed the preliminary round, competed for the top honors.
Among the 14 teams that won prizes in the competition, Team Potom was recognized with the Bronze Medal, the President’s Award of Korean Institute of Information Scientists and Engineers (KIISE). The Grand Prize was awarded to Team Penguin from KAIST.
As a result of their impressive performance, the top prize winners from a given institutions will advance to the ICPC World Finals 2024, where the global programming champion will be determined. Representing UNIST, Team Potom will be also participating in the 2024 competition.
Meanwhile, the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) is a global competition in the field of competitive programming that is open to universities worldwide. It serves as an extracurricular activity for gifted students, offering them a platform to showcase their teamwork, programming skills, and problem-solving abilities. The ICPC not only fosters interaction among participants but also provides an avenue for them to enhance their abilities in these areas.
