UNIST Industrial Innovation Team announced that the Next Generation Entrepreneurs Club Ulsan (NECUS), in collaboration with UNIST, officially launched its presence on campus on June 16, with the opening of the Pioneers Campus. This initiative aims to enhance cooperation between emerging industry leaders and academia to accelerate smart industrial innovation.
UNIST will actively implement a range of industry-academic cooperation programs—including education, seminars, and joint research—with its 67 member companies. These collaborations are designed to foster close partnerships, enabling companies to develop cutting-edge technologies in tandem with the university’s research capabilities.
The Pioneers Campus is envisioned as a hub for creating a virtuous cycle of industry-academic collaboration, focusing on the identification of joint research projects and ensuring the continuity and scalability of innovative initiatives. The platform aims to cultivate a synergistic environment where industry insights and university expertise converge to deliver tangible results.
A key feature of the campus is the partnership with the NECUS, through which seminars on Artificial Intelligence Transformation (AX) and Digital Transformation (DX) will be hosted. These seminars are expected to generate practical success stories by integrating industry insights with university-level technological expertise.
Following the opening ceremony, Vice President Hyun Sil Ahn of Research Affairs delivered a lecture titled “Redefining Technology Management in the AI Era.” Moving forward, UNIST will host at least one offline seminar per month, covering advanced industrial fields such as AI, secondary batteries, and technology management.
The NECUS comprises second-generation managers and young leaders from major regional companies. Since its establishment in 2008, the organization has played a vital role in fostering active industry exchanges and contributing to regional industrial development.
The Pioneers Campus serves as an innovative platform that integrates university research strength with industrial experience. Its establishment marks a significant step toward strengthening industry-academic cooperation aimed at shaping the future of the region.
A representative from the Pioneers Campus stated, “Our collaboration with the NECUS represents a long-term partnership between industry and academia. We are committed to building a model of industry-academic cooperation rooted in a fearless pursuit of success, without fearing failure.”
