UNIST and Changwon National University (CWNU) convened to discuss a collaborative model aimed at enhancing various avenues for exchange and partnership between the two institutions.
On July 30, the presidents of UNIST and Changwon National University convened at the UNIST campus to explore potential cooperative models. Notably, practical insights were exchanged by leveraging UNIST’s strengths as a benchmark for collaboration.
President Min-Won Park of Changwon National University presented the D.N.A. (Defense, Nuclear, and Autonomous) Strategy, which focuses on K-Defense, K-Nuclear Power, and K-Smart Manufacturing. This strategy aims to establish the Glocal University model for Changwon National University and foster innovation through collaboration among universities, government agencies, research institutes, industries, and local communities. The discussions also encompassed avenues for cooperation regarding the establishment of the Glocal Advanced Science and Technology University (GAST), which will follow the official designation of Glocal University in August 2024.
Following Changwon National University’s selection for the Glocal University, the two universities engaged in extensive discussions and exchanged broad opinions on cooperative initiatives. Specific areas of collaboration explored included research partnerships between faculty, talent exchange, campus sharing, and business cooperation in future manufacturing and AI sectors. Furthermore, they discussed joint research initiatives aimed at addressing challenges in the Mechatronics field in Korea, which boasts the highest industrial robot density globally, as well as collaborations in the defense and aerospace industries.
Presidents Chung Rae Park and Min-Won Park emphasized, “UNIST and Changwon National University are committed to developing a cooperative model that contributes to regional and national advancement through practical sharing and collaborative exchange.”
