On April 22, UNIST signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Korea Institute of Materials Science (KIMS), aimed at fostering advancements in scientific technology and developing specialized talent.
As a leading comprehensive materials research institution in South Korea, KIMS plays a pivotal role in national materials research and development. Its efforts encompass research and development, dissemination of findings, evaluation, and technology support, all aimed at advancing the country’s materials industry and addressing national and societal challenges.
Through this collaboration, both institutions aim to establish a foundation for the advancement of materials technology and basic research in the national materials industry, committing to future cooperative efforts. Areas of collaboration will include: Joint research and collaborative projects, Support for technology commercialization, Joint talent development and exchanges, and Information and resource sharing
President Chong Rae Park of UNIST emphasized, “We live in an era where technology dictates the future of industries. By combining the knowledge and practical experience of UNIST and KIMS, we aspire to foster innovation in the materials industry that extends beyond mere research collaboration.” He further noted, “We will build a collaborative ecosystem that allows for the free flow of talent, technology, and ideas.”
President Chul-jin Choi of KIMS noted, “This agreement serves as a critical opportunity to consolidate our research capabilities and enhance the competitiveness of the national materials industry. We will spare no effort in supporting the collaboration between UNIST and KIMS to cultivate outstanding scientific technology talent and develop foundational materials technologies.”
