In a strategic effort to enhance educational contributions within the Gyeongsang region, the UNIST Leadership Center and Pukyong National University (PKNU) Support Center for Educational Donation formalized a partnership through a memorandum of understanding signed at PKNU’s main campus on August 26, 2025.
Under this agreement, both institutions will jointly develop and implement innovative, science-oriented educational donation programs aimed at middle and high school students in the region. The collaboration seeks to promote a culture of educational giving and expand access to engaging, interdisciplinary learning experiences.
Particularly, the programs will integrate science education with educational donation initiatives, providing regional students with opportunities to enhance their academic skills and social development.
The UNIST Leadership Center has been actively engaging approximately 2,500 local middle and high school students annually through career exploration programs. Starting in 2023, the Center has expanded its focus to include AI and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) convergence education, offering creative learning opportunities to over 300 students.
A key feature of UNIST’s approach is a peer-mentoring STEM program developed by current students, which aims to cultivate problem-solving skills and technological literacy among youth in the region. This program emphasizes hands-on, collaborative learning and aims to nurture future innovators.
Representatives from both institutions expressed their enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “This collaboration combines the strengths of both organizations to provide broader educational opportunities for students in Gyeongsang region. It also represents a meaningful step toward fostering a vibrant culture of educational donation within our community.”
The PKNU Support Center for Educational Donation, established in 2023 by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity, offers tailored educational donation programs for elementary, middle, and high school students across the region.
