UNIST and Pusan National University have established a joint response framework to address air quality issues in the Southeast region of Korea.
On the 17th, the Particle Pollution Research and Management Center and the Pusan National University Environmental Research Institute signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at Pusan National University to advance fine dust mitigation efforts and promote regional community development.
The signing ceremony was attended by Director Chang-Keun Song of the Particle Pollution Research and Management Center, and Director Cheol-Hee Kim of PNU Environmental Research Institute, both of whom expressed strong commitment to collaborative efforts toward improving air quality. The two institutions plan to develop effective strategies through close cooperation.
Key aspects of the MOU include the Development of air quality improvement technologies, Joint research initiatives to reduce air pollution, and the Academic exchanges and talent development.
Leveraging their respective expertise, both organizations aim to produce tangible research outcomes that will benefit the region.
Director Song stated, “This marks the first step in a collaborative effort by regional research centers to address fine dust issues. Through cooperation between Ulsan and Busan, we aim to achieve meaningful environmental improvements.”
Director Kim added, “Based on Pusan National University’s research capabilities, we will contribute to enhancing air quality in Ulsan and the broader Southeast region, and together with UNIST, we expect to see visible results in tackling air pollution.”
