On April 2, the UNIST Human Rights Center (HRC) held a launching ceremony to introduce its first group of ‘Human Rights Supporters,’ marking the beginning of their year-long engagement in 2024.
During the ceremony, eight appointed human rights supporters received their official letters of appointment, signifying their commitment to a year-long endeavor in 2024. Their responsibilities encompass a spectrum of activities, including campaign planning, content development, and institutional visits, all strategically designed to elevate human rights sensitivity and gender awareness within the campus, fostering a pervasive culture of respect.
Jeongyeon Kim, the Chief of UNIST Human Rights Center, shared her sentiments, remarking, “UNIST Human Rights Center is actively implementing diverse programs to cultivate a campus environment that upholds human rights. And the introduction of UNIST Human Rights Supporters program is a pivotal step in this direction.” She continued, “By working closely with our supporters, we aim to devise student-centered approaches to address school conflicts and human rights issues, while generating innovative ideas to foster a culture underpinned by respect,” conveying her optimistic outlook for the future.
The inaugural cohort of UNIST Human Rights Supporters will remain actively engaged in their initiatives until the culmination of November 2024. Upon the successful conclusion of their endeavors, the center will confer certificates of completion to the diligent participants, acknowledging their invaluable contributions towards advancing the principles of human rights and respect within the UNIST community.
