UNIST attained the highest grade (Level 1) of comprehensive integrity in the ‘2022 Public Institution Integrity Evaluation,’ conducted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC) of Korea. Besides, UNIST had also been singled out as exemplary, receiving Grade 1, in the ‘2021 Anti-Corruption Initiative Assessment.‘
The comprehensive integrity of UNIST in 2022 was 86 out of 100, more than 10.8 points higher than the average (75.2 points) of 33 national and public universities. The integrity assessment tool for public institutions consists of two main components: 1) Evaluation questionnaire on the experience and perception of corruption that may occur in the work process (Sense of Integrity) and 2) Assessment to evaluate anti-corruption efforts and operational performance in the public sector (Degree of Integrity).
Meanwhile, UNIST attained the excellent grade (Level 2) in the Sense of Integrity. Through this, it has been confirmed that UNIST is being recognized as an institution of integrity by internal members and contracting partners. Besides, in terms of Degree of Integrity, UNIST earned the highest grade (Level 1), and thus becoming the only national and public university in Korea that was classed as an exemplary organization. This showed that UNIST is particularly exemplary in promoting public policy integrity.
Furthermore, efforts to implement effective organizational communication, establish organizational integrity in the workplace, and establish an effective integrity management system that can fundamentally prevent and control corruption had a positive impact on the evaluation, according to the official.
