The UNIST College of Engineering has forged a partnership with Materialise Inc., a Belgium-based company specializing in 3D printing software and services, to mutually support each other in the pursuit of excellence in 3D printing research and development. A ceremony to commemorate the partnership was held at UNIST on June 4, 2024.
In the memorandum of understanding, the two organizations pledged to collaborate in offering design optimization and enhanced manufacturing flexibility to manufacturers by leveraging the design freedom aspects of additive manufacturing. Materialise Inc. will drive innovation in the energy industry by delivering tailored solutions across all phases, including product development and production, guided by digital technology.
The collaboration between the two organizations is anticipated to not only expand the reach of 3D printing technology within the energy sector, but also cultivate skilled individuals who will play a crucial role in the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).
“We aim to cultivate individuals with high competitiveness and potential in the key areas of 4IR and to steer the energy sector forward through ongoing academic and technological exchanges with Materialise Inc.,” stated Sung Youb Kim, Dean of UNIST College of Engineering.
