On June 3, UNIST delivered a plaque of appreciation to the poet Jong-hae Park to show appreciation for writing the lyrics for its official school song.
UNIST’s official song was produced in 2009, prior to the official opening of UNIST in March. The music was composed by Jun-beom Kim, and the lyrics were written by Jong-hae Park. Sung by students and graduates during celebratory moments at the school, the song consists of three verses in total.
Jong-hae Park was born in Songjeong-dong, Ulsan, South Korea. He officially began his literary career in 1980 via 《Literature of the World》. He is a highly respected poet, who has published 14 poetry books over the past 53 years. He has won numerous awards, including Lee Sang-hwa Poets Award, Sungkyunkwan Literature Award, and Yechong Arts Award.
The plaque presentation ceremony was held in the 6F conference room of the Main Administration Building, UNIST. At the ceremony, a plaque of appreciation, engraved with UNIST’s official song and thank you notes, was presented to Jong-hae Park. This plaque will soon be displayed at the SongDang (松塘) Literature Museum, which is expected to be opened in November.
