The School of New UNISTars hosted its annual major exploration festival, ‘2025 UNIVISION‘ in the lobby of the Engineering Building II on October 27–28, 2025. The two-day event brought together more than 200 freshmen and 60 senior mentors for a dynamic celebration of academic discovery, career exploration, and campus community.
Under the theme “Asking the Path from Seniors,” the event was designed to help first-year students—who enter UNIST without a declared major—gain a deeper understanding of various academic disciplines and make informed choices about their future fields of study.
Throughout the festival, upper-year mentors operated departmental booths, offering one-on-one consultations and sharing firsthand experiences about coursework, research, and career development. Graduate students also joined the sessions to provide insights into laboratory life and the realities of graduate research.

With the upcoming major selection period scheduled for November 24–28, many freshmen used UNIVISION as an opportunity to reflect on their interests, clarify academic goals, and plan their next steps.
To create a welcoming and energizing environment after midterm exams, the venue was decorated in a Halloween concept with pumpkins, festive lights, and photo zones. A variety of student-led programs—including stamp missions, a jelly-tasting challenge, and prize drawings—added to the excitement. Food trucks and refreshments kept the atmosphere lively and engaging throughout the event.

“We wanted UNIVISION to be both informative and refreshing for our students,” said Ara Jo, Team Leader at the School of New UNISTars. “It was wonderful to see so many freshmen gaining valuable insight into their majors while taking a well-deserved break after exams. The event’s success was made possible through the active cooperation of each department and the Freshmen Student Council.”
Professor In Cheol Bang, Department Head of the School of New UNISTars, added, “UNIVISION 2025 was a true collaboration between departments and senior mentors. I hope this festival helped our freshmen explore their academic interests through meaningful conversations and experience the intellectual diversity that defines UNIST. Moving forward, we will continue to support our students through customized programs such as major exploration seminars, CA mentorships, and tutoring initiatives.”
