The Counseling Council for University Student (CCUS) is a consortium of 230 university student counseling centers nationwide, which develops and distributes various programs to help students adjust to college life and promote mental health. The council has been conducting an annual performance appraisal to honor those organizations that have demonstrated excellence in the following areas: Counseling Operation, Professional Counselling, Counseling Activities, and Excellent Counselor.
UNIST Healthcare Center has been given the honor of being this year’s excellent organization of counseling services in the Counseling Operation category.
UNIST Healthcare Center aims to protect, maintain, and promote the physical and mental health of UNIST members, thereby helping them maintain a healthy lifestyle. In particular, for the psychological support of students in the areas of mental health, a customized integrated service system has been established, in which specialists in mental health medicine, clinical psychologists, and professional counselors collaborate.
In addition to individual counseling, the center has operated group programs on various topics such as art therapy, time management, psychodrama, animal mediated therapy, literary therapy, and presentation anxiety. Individual counseling and group program operation are consistently producing results in student crisis prevention and intervention.
Meanwhile, the center has been running online personal counseling and group programs even in the situation of Corona 19 in 2020. In 2021, it plans to make efforts to provide services that are in line with the changing environment through the development of non-face-to-face mental health service content.
