On May 17, UNIST hosted a signboard hanging ceremony for the opening of a new resting facility for city bus drivers at an on-campus bus exchange stop.
Located in a newly-constructed outdoor parking lot on campus, the new purpose-built amenity facility aims to provide a comfortable resting area, equipped with two shared bathrooms and additional amenities for city bus drivers to enjoy their breaks and refresh for the next part of their shift.
The lounge is expected to improve the working conditions for bus drivers and enhance transportation convenience for UNIST members and citizens of Ulsan, ultimately promoting the stable operation of city buses.
“We are incredibly grateful to Ulsan city bus drivers and officials for their continued support in meeting the transportation needs of UNIST members and Ulsan citizens,” said Youngdo Choi, Dean of General Affairs at UNIST. “We hope that this facility allows drivers to take a moment to pause, unwind, and rejuvenate from their demanding schedules.”
Chairman Youngkon Kim of the Ulsan Metrobus Company Association also expressed his appreciation to UNIST for providing resting conditions for bus drivers, stating, “We are committed to ensuring the safe and efficient use of public transportation for UNIST members and Ulsan citizens.”
The ceremony was attended by Dean Youngdo Choi of General Affairs, Chairman Youngkon Kim of Ulsan Metrobus Company Association, and other related officials.
