On June 24, UNIST held the ‘2025 Korea Industrial AI Joint Forum‘ at the Peace & Park Convention Center in Yongsan, Seoul, spotlighting cutting-edge AI advancements driving manufacturing innovation in Southeastern region of South Korea. The event was attended by over 200 experts from academia, industry, research institutions, and government agencies.
Under the theme “AI-Based Smart Manufacturing and a Sustainable Future,” the forum was co-hosted by UNIST Pioneers Campus, the Korea Industrial Technology Association (KOITA), Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH), LS Electric Co., Ltd., LG AI Research Institute, and SK Telecom Co., Ltd. The event was supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) and the non-profit organization GwaSilYeon (The National Coalition for the Realization of a Right Science and Technology Society) AI Future Forum.

During the opening ceremony, Vice President Hyun Sil Ahn of Research Affairs at UNIST highlighted UNIST’s leadership in developing AI technologies tailored for manufacturing, stating, “UNIST is at the forefront of AI innovation for the manufacturing industry, actively driving real-world industrial transformation.” He further added, “Our efforts will contribute significantly to strengthening regional and national industrial competitiveness through smart manufacturing.”

The forum also featured presentations by Director Jong Pil Yun at KITECH, on “AI Technologies for Autonomous Manufacturing,” and Director Hyungchul Ha at LS Electric, on “The Journey Toward Building an AI-Enabled Autonomous Factory,” highlighting successful AI implementation cases.
The event concluded with a panel discussion moderated by Executive Director Woohyung Im at LG AI Research Institute, focusing on “Strategies for Achieving AI-Based Smart Manufacturing Innovation,” fostering insightful dialogue among industry leaders and experts.
