Jiseok Lee, Professor of Energy and Chemical Engineering at UNIST, has been honored with a commendation from the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. This is the result of recognizing excellent technology-based start-up performance.
The commendation was delivered at the 2021 Ulsan Startup Festa, which ended on Saturday. Professor Lee received a commendation in recognition of his efforts to create an excellent technology startup through AMHOLO Co., Ltd., which was founded in 2019.
AMHOLO is a company created to commercialize anti-counterfeiting technology developed by Professor Lee Ji-seok himself. Immediately after its foundation in 2019, it was selected as the best company in the preliminary start-up package for middle-aged and was selected as the TIPS program of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups six months after its foundation. The secret to rapid growth and investment attraction was solid technology.
Professor Lee Ji-seok is an expert who has been studying anti-counterfeiting technology for more than 10 years. In particular, he proved his outstanding research ability by publishing papers on anti-counterfeiting technology in the most prestigious international journal Nature Materials in 2014 and 2021. In addition, Professor Lee has 45 papers from international journals and more than 30 related domestic and international patents.
The achievement of developing multi-fake prevention original technology, including three-dimensional holograms introduced in Nature Materials, was selected as the only target covering all fields at the 2021 Human Tech Paper Awards hosted by Samsung Electronics and was recognized for its excellence.
AMHOLO is taking the lead in technology-based start-ups that can combine with existing industries by participating in the 2021 Private Cooperation Open Startup Campus project of the Ulsan Creative Economy Innovation Center. This commendation is also a result of high praise for its contribution to the establishment of a technology start-up ecosystem in connection with local manufacturing companies.
AMHOLO signed a business agreement with NBST, an anti-counterfeiting product seller, in March, and is speeding up its business by conducting prototype production. As it was recognized for its original technology and commercialization potential, it also turned on a green light for private investment.
Meanwhile, the 2021 Ulsan Startup Festa (USF) was held at the Ulsan Exhibition and Convention Center from November 15 to 20, 2021. The award ceremony took place on November 15, 2021.
