UNIST Graduate School of Technology and Innovation Management (MOT) has been officially designated as a participating university in a prestigious national project aimed at cultivating global talent in technology management. This recognition follows UNIST’s recent inclusion among select universities recognized for advancing international dual-degree programs.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE)’s affiliated Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) has approved UNIST’s participation in the “Global Talent Development Project for Advanced Strategic Industry Tech Management.” This initiative, with an annual budget of approximately 8 billion KRW over five years (totaling around 40 billion KRW), aims to systematically foster highly skilled professionals capable of leading advanced strategic industries through graduate programs rooted in engineering and business.
Among ten participating universities nationwide—including Korea University, Sungkyunkwan University, Hanyang University, DGIST, and GIST—UNIST stands out as one of the top five institutions involved in the international dual-degree initiative.
Furthermore, UNIST has established a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore to advance joint dual-degree programs. Under this agreement, NTU will annually select up to ten UNIST students to participate in its Master’s program in Technology Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Each selected student will receive a scholarship of S$15,000 (approximately 15 million KRW), with additional funding covering tuition, travel, and living expenses supported by government funds.
In addition to student exchanges, UNIST and NTU plan to strengthen collaboration in technology commercialization and entrepreneurship education. The partnership will include joint programs, internships, industry-site visits, and exploration of the global startup ecosystem.
This achievement underscores UNIST’s recognized expertise in industry-academia collaboration within the fields of technology management and innovation. The project’s evaluation highlighted strengths in clear goal setting, international collaboration and educational capacity of partner universities, curriculum design, and strategies for disseminating project outcomes. UNIST received outstanding evaluations across all criteria.
Professor Young Rok Choi, Dean of MOT, stated, “Through this project, UNIST aims to cultivate global leaders in technology commercialization by integrating cutting-edge technology with management expertise.” He further added, “We will also build a world-class educational ecosystem based on our international dual-degree programs and contribute actively to nurturing key talents that will lead global strategic industries.”
