The Office of University Industry Relations at UNIST has recently embarked on a new partnership with the Seoul National University Bundang Hospital Biomedical Research Institute, in an effort to facilitate research cooperation and provide effective support for startup companies in the biomedical field.
A ceremony to mark the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two organizations took place in the Healthcare Innovation Park at the Seoul National University Bundang Hospital (SNUBH) on April 11, 2022.
The ceremony has been attended by Director Hak Jong Lee of Research Planning and Management (SNUBH Biomedical Research Institute), Dean Soon Yong Kwon from the Office of University Industry Relations (UNIST), Professor Hyung Joon Cho (Department of Biomedical Engineering, UNIST), and other key representatives from both organizations.
Under this partnership, the two organizations have agreed to boost and expand cooperation in the following areas: △ Revitalization of R&D via research collaborations in the biomedical field, △ Planning and carrying out industry-academia programs, △ Cultivation of scientific talents in the field of medical life sciences, △ Providing supports for startups in the biomedical sector. Cooperation with local institutions, such as biopharmaceuticals, vaccines, and smart healthcare will be also expanded.
“This partnership is significant in that the two notable research organizations in the biomedical field have agreed on industry-academic cooperation-oriented convergence,” said Dean Soon Yong Kwon (Office of University Industry Relations, UNIST), “We hope it will be an opportunity to inspire innovation among faculty, medical staffs and students.”
