On May 15, the signing ceremony of MOU between UNIST and LG Electronics Inc. was held at UNIST, followed by a special lecture by President Sung-Jin Cho of LG Electronics.
The ceremony was attended by UNIST President Moo Je Cho, President Sung-Jin Cho of LG, Vice-president of Research MooYoung Jung at UNIST, Professor and Dean Taesung Kim (School of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering), Prof. Jae-Young Kim (School of Electrical and Computer ngineering), Deputy General Manager GeunSik Yuk of LG, Senior Manager MinSeok Hong of Human Resources at LG, and other major officials from LG Electronics.
Prior to the signing of MoU, both parties discussed and agreed on some possible collaborative activities to strengthen technical exchange and to further promote industry-university cooperation.
Through these activities, UNIST and LG Electronics hope to actively promote joint industry-university research by supporting young talents with hands-on work experience and exposure to career path of interests.
In addition, 10 UNIST students who are currently enrolled within their 4th year of undergraduate studies or within their first year of graduate studies will be selected and sponsored through LG Electronics Track Scholarship. Moreover, during the term of this MOU, these students will not only receive a scholarship of up to $33,000 dollars for the next two years, but also a guarantee of entering LG Electronics after graduation.
“This industry-university partnership will not only nurture the technical talents that companies and Korea need. And UNIST will provide all the support it can,” says President Cho.
