On August 8, UNIST formalized a strategic partnership with North Carolina State University (NCSU), United States, through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This collaboration aims to establish a robust framework for joint research and educational initiatives on a global scale.
The agreement is designed to enhance research competitiveness in the fields of mechanical engineering and new materials, while also promoting faculty and student exchanges. This represents a significant milestone in UNIST’s ongoing efforts to strengthen international collaboration and expand its global network.
NCSU, ranked 58th overall among U.S. universities and 26th among public institutions in the 2025 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, is renowned for its practical-oriented education rooted in the ‘Think and Do‘ philosophy and its exemplary research capabilities. The university’s strengths in STEM disciplines are complemented by state-of-the-art experimental infrastructure.
The MOU was signed by Vice President Sung Chul Bae for Academic Affairs at UNIST, and Amy Conger, Vice Provost for Global Engagement at NCSU. Through this partnership, both institutions will collaborate across various initiatives, including: ▲ Joint research projects, ▲ Sharing innovative educational methodologies and curriculum development, ▲ Hosting joint symposiums and workshops, ▲ Developing faculty and student exchange programs, and ▲ Expanding opportunities for visiting researchers.
By establishing this collaborative foundation, UNIST aims to significantly elevate the quality of international joint research and provide enriched global experiences for students and faculty alike.
