President Yong Hoon Lee appeared on a local TV program, ‘Nam Hee Seok’s Ulsan Era’ by Ulsan KBS to express his thoughts on the third anniversary of his inauguration and discussed UNIST’s vision for the future.
President Yong Hoon Lee has been working tirelessly to foster innovation in science and engineering education since he began his term as the fourth president of UNIST in November 2019.
UNIST has also continued to excel in various fields since President Lee began his term as the fourth president of UNIST in November 2019. Today, UNIST has earned the No. 1 ranking in South Korea and No. 11 in the world, according to the Times Higher Education Young University Rankings 2022. Recently, ten UNIST researchers have also distinguished themselves with inclusion in the 2022 list of Highly Cited Researchers (HCR) by Clarivate Plc. This was the highest ever achieved among universities in South Korea, this year.
President Lee also explained the characteristics of research-oriented universities that are producing research and development results through cooperation and mentioned his plans about fostering physician-scientists through close cooperation with the University of Ulsan.
“Our success would not have been possible without support from Ulsan city and Ulju County,” said President Lee. “We appreciate your continued support.”
“UNIST is set in beautiful surroundings, with plenty of green space to relax in and the desirable combination of natural surroundings and state-of-the-art research facilities,” said President Lee. “We have recently built a café around the Gamak Pond, which is another beautiful addition to UNIST campus.” He adds, “We hope this will serve as a new community hub, allowing local citizens have a new space to meet and communicate.”
