Jiyeon Kim (Ph.D. Candidate, Department of Chemistry, UNIST) has been honored with the 2022 Talent Award of Korea.
The Talent Award of Korea is an award bestowed by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education of Korea since 2008. It recognizes those individuals who have performed exemplary talents or outstanding meritorious service. Every year, the award goes to 100 university and high school students who became distinguished in certain fields through effort, challenging spirits and creativity.
This award has been given to Jiyeon Kim (Advisor: Professor Wonyoung Choe) in recognition of her efforts and contributions in discovering topological blueprints for new materials.
She is currently working on the development of functional porous materials including metal-organic frameworks and metal-organic polyhedra under Professor Choe. Her research interests lie primarily in the design and synthesis of new metal-organic materials for various applications in energy, environmental and biomedical areas.
Jiyeon Kim had also been selected as a recipient of the 2018 Global Ph.D. Fellowship (GPF). She has published the research findings as a co-first author and first author in Matter and Chem, sister journals to Cell. She has also won several awards for outstanding presentation and best debater at academic conferences.
The award presentation ceremony took place at Sejong Convention Center on December 29, 2022.
