UNIST is pleased to announce that it has recently received a generous donation from its students.
A research team, consisting of Professor Gun Kim (Department of Urban and Environmental Engineering) and his students, Jun Kim, JiWoo Bae, Jong Sik Ahn, Taean Yoo, Ba Da Lee, and DaJeong Joo has been awarded the ‘Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award’ at the 2021 Technology Contest for Concrete. They promptly donated their prize money to the university’s endowment fund.
Organized by the Korea Conformity Laboratories (KCL), the competition consisted of two parts: the product quality and technological innovation parts. The first part, in which Professor Kim’s team participated, was evaluated based on the fluidity and compressive strength of concrete. This year, the first part of the competition has been participated by a total of 55 teams from both general and student divisions.
The team received the Grand Prize for being highly regarded in the assessment of fluidity and strength properties of concrete. They received this award in recognition of producing cement, having a higher compressive strength after curing. Students had undoubtedly worked hard during the past four months to achieve the desired results.
Meanwhile, the award ceremony took place in the Korea Science and Technology Center (KSTC) on December 16, 2021.
