UNIST, as a centre of technological and scientific excellence in nuclear engineering has been working hard to provide a boost to Southeast Asia’s nuclear power industry through the transfer of nuclear technology.
On July 24, UNIST signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on nuclear technology cooperation with University of Dalat, a national university of Vietnam, specializing in nuclear research. Through this meeting, President Nguyen Duc Hoa of DaLat University and Prof. Deojung Lee of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering at UNIST have agreed to engage in technology cooperation including information and personnel exchange for the next five years.
The MOU between UNIST’s School of Mechnical and Nuclear Engineering and the University of Dalat’s Department of Nuclear Engineering was initiated in support of the Korea Nuclear Association for Internationa Cooperation (KNA) and Hanyang University.
Describing the importance of this MOU, Prof. Lee at UNIST stated that both UNIST and DaLat University will also closely collaborate in areas of education, training, collaborative research projects, and student exchange in order to produce many talents in nuclear development.
Moreover, in this coming August, UNIST will have another visit from Malaysia’s University of Kebangsaan (President Muhamad Samudi bin Yasir) to provide opportunities for cooperation and exchange for nuclear education and tranining.
