On August 31, UNIST has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Ulsan (U of U) for cooperation through the exchange of knowledge, academic programs, research and other activities.
The signing ceremony of MoU was attended by President Mooyoung Jung of UNIST, President Yeon-Cheon Oh of U of U, Professor Franklin Bien (Dean of Public Relations & International Affairs, UNIST), Professor Hyeon Suk Shin (Director of UNIST Central Research Facilities), Kyu Yeol Park (Dean of College of Engineering, U of U), Director Jae Shin Lee of Industry Support Team at U of U, and other key officials from both organizations.
“By sharing the history and traditions of University of Ulsan with UNIST, we hope to find ways to enhance the competitiveness of both universities,” says President Oh of U of U. “We anticipate that the city of Ulsan’s economic growth can be greatly enhanced by the growth of both universities.”
Under this partnership, both universities have agreed to collaborate on research projects, scientific training and joint meetings. It mainly focuses on collaboration in such aspects as joint research projects, training of individual scientists, exchange of scientific and technical information, as well as joint conferences and lectures.
“In addition to joint research projects, UNIST will also explore education and training programs for next-generation leaders, and communication and outreach programs,” says President Jung of UNIST. “Through this partnership, UNIST will contribute significantly to regional growth, helping the city to achieve its economic potential by supporting innovation and attracting investment and talent, and creating more jobs.”
