Vice President Jaiyong Lee of Research and Academic Affairs at UNIST has been conferred the Order of Service Merit Aquamarine Stripes Medal for his distinguished, lifelong contribution to the development of education.
On October 27, UNIST held an award ceremony to honor the distinguished achievement of Vice President Jaiyong Lee and to give this award to him. The ceremony took place in the 6F conference room, located in the the Main Administration Building of UNIST.
Vice President Lee has been given this medal in recognition of his lifelong dedication and contribution towards the advancement in education, as well as Korea’s information and communication technology (ICT) sector.
Vice President Lee earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Yonsei University. He earned both his master’s degree and PhD in computer engineering from Iowa State University, USA. In 1994, he joined the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Yonsei University, where he also served as Chair of the School of Electrical and Electric Engineering, Dean of the College of Engineering, and Vice President for Academic Affairs. In March 2020, he joined the Department of Computer Engineering at UNIST, and thus currently serves as Vice President for Research and Academic Affairs.
